Stamp duty calculation

Hi,

I’m buying my brothers half of our house, I currently live in it and don’t own another property.

The house is worth £370000. I don’t think I have to pay it on my 50% share.

So do I assume I only have to pay 2% of £60000, (£185000 minus £125000)?

Yes, that sounds right.  You do not have a spouse/ civil partner with a property?

That sounds right, then.  The property is in England?  The rates you refer to are the stamp duty land tax rates for English properties.
  • Yes the property is in England.
