Oh dear we have hijacked this thread with the washing!
I have a Leifheit Telegant pull out clothes airer over my bath. Holds an average machine load.
I also have something similar at my holiday home except it came with 2 wall holders one fixed over the bath and the other outside. (Think that's also leifheit)
One of my neighbours (at holiday home) has a canopy fixed along garage side on opposite side from prevailing weather and the clothes blow under there even when it's raining.
One solution for 'smalls' is to hang them on a laundry hanger device with small pegs & then hang the whole thing outside - if you can be bothered. They used to be widely available for £1.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

If the sight of my unmentionables drying on the carousel thingy gives the neighbours a good laugh, I've done a Good Thing in brightening someone's day!If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)8

The only thing that I feel self conscious about pegging on the line in sight of the neighbours are plastic bags so I usually hang them up in the garage. I buy the IKEA bags and wash them out after use unless I've used them for meat.4

Going back to the original theme of this thread, I don't have a smart meter but I've got into the habit of reading my meters nearly every day to try and work out what uses most energy and I've been keeping a spreadsheet. It came as no surprise to see that Monday's reading was always high (Sunday roast so oven on) and using the washing machine and dishwasher adds a predictable amount. But what has surprised me is that there seems to be a very linear relationship in electricity consumption with the time of year and that can only be lighting. I say surprising because we have LEDs wherever possible so I didn't think lighting would be such a significant element of our consumption. I shall be shouting at the family like Warden Hodges going forwardIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!5

True, but the heating times are fairly constantIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!1

A gas boiler / CH system won't be constantly pumping when it is on due to the thermostat whereas lighting is binary - on or off.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
