Hi everyone,
Ruby, I hope yesterday was as good as it could have been.
We won the quiz last night, but it was a really late night. It had something I've never seen in a team quiz before - buzzer rounds. I was nominated by our team to be the buzzer person and luckily managed to answer most of the questions but it was a bit nerve wracking. There was a huge platter of cheese and meats for each table in the interval.
It's a lovely day here so we might well spend some time in the garden finishing the tidying and weeding the beds, they need more mulch on them to keep it down.
I need to go shopping we need more salad stuff to try to rectify the damage done by last night's aforementioned platter.
Have a good day.13 -
Thanks Gers I’ve just ordered me and the hubby one we wash them at the dry cleaners and just tumble them on a low heat with a tennis ball8

Afternoon - I think that my mission was accomplished!
After a long chat with my old friend she promised to contact the surgeon I used, for an initial appointment about her hip at least. I hope that I reassured her enough to ease her fears as she was in a much worse state that I had imagined, I'll soon know.Izzy - well done. I was pleased to find out today that I can wear the gilet under my quilted down jacket so I was doubly warm, and then too warm when the sun came out just after I turned the car heater up!
Ruby - yes, I'll take it a dry cleaners who can deal with it, something to do with tennis balls I believe. Life is strange. Now I'm off to watch some catch-up TV.10 -
Afternoon all. Weather-wise, today's a rinse and repeat of yesterday - bright, sunny and very cold. When I came downstairs this morning before the heating kicked in, the living room temperature was 14C. Brrr.
DH has managed to hobble downstairs and is now ensconced on the sofa watching rugby. His knee is less swollen but still painful and not yet really up to much weight bearing. It's a good job I have plenty of paracetamol in stock. He might have to sleep on the sofa tonight, if so I'll bring down the duvet and pillow from the spare bedroom for him. We don't have a downstairs loo either so that could be a problem. Ho hum.
The BM is on and I've done all the usual daily tasks but, other than that, I've not got much planned for today. There is plenty to do but I'm not feeling the urge, so it could be a feet up day.
Mr Postie brought a letter this morning from my ex-employer that I was hoping contained details of my final salary pension increase, but no. It was the P60 telling me what I've had over the last 12 months. Hopefully, I'll get what I'm waiting for some time this coming week as I really want to finalise my annual budget. I know it won't be much but, as they say, every little helps.
I think you’re right, weenancy. Some men do appear to be reluctant to admit to anything being wrong health wise and I’ve certainly got one of those! At 80 years of age you’d think he’d know better.
I’m glad you enjoyed your trip to Glasgow with your host, Gers, as I know you weren’t looking forward to it especially. I have several hand knitted gilets - probably not as good as the down versions - but they do the job. And could you please send your friend to have a word with my DH about seeing the doc about his knee?
Your Moaning Minnie boss sounds like a barrel of laughs, Izzy. And not very considerate either when coughing over everyone.
Nanny, I love Mr Fix It’s response to DGD. Very witty.
Ruby, the funeral sounded so emotional and stressful. It’s always difficult to know what to say, especially under these circumstances. On a lighter note, - we love crabs but can’t get them near us.
Well done on winning the quiz, snoozer - it sounds like it was a lot of fun.
I need to have a rummage in the freezer for something for tomorrow's dinner and then I'll see what else I can or might fancy doing. Have a good weekend all and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.12 -
Had a lie in today - very tired after being on my feet catering yesterday.
No cooking tonight as we went to a quiz at the SA - not many there - four tables - we were on the winning one so came home with an Easter egg.
At the SA I was asked to look at the funeral flower arrangement as it was looking a bit sad - the oasis container was so shallow but there was a decent size block - I struggled to top up with water after removing droopy roses.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Good Evening
Redruby - A funeral at any time is hard, but when it’s a young person it can be so much harder to cope with. Sending love and strength to you all.
Gers glad your chat may have worked, my mum doesn’t like to bother the dr either. Although this week she went as we said if she didn’t we would call them. They’ve now arranged for more blood tests.
snoozer -well done on the win at the quiz.
Mabel is doing well, hardly any accidents in the house. Ds2 cut the lawn today whilst I was out doing the shopping. Went to the well know pet store to get some more of pups good but they don’t stock it in store. Found a local independent pet shop that did, so will go there in future.
hugs to anyone that wants one. Take care.7
