Vodafone contract overpayment?

Options
My wife had a 2 yr Vodafone contract expiring last August for a phone and airtime. After the anniversary passed, she continued to pay the full cost by direct debit despite the fact that the phone was already paid for. Today we went into our local Voda shop expecting to get a credit for the overpayment, but this was point-blank refused. She has effectively overpaid by some £20+ for seven months.
At the time the contract was taken out, she was told the value of the phone part of the contract, but it was the whole sum (Phone + airtime) that was specified in the signed contract.
Lots of people must have been, or are, in this predicament. Has anyone had any success in reclaiming an overpayment like this? Surely others need to be warned!

Its your responsibility to reset the contract at the end of term. The T&C's of you contract make clear it will continue as is unless changed.

It's not really a predicament.  I'm sure lots of people haven't read or understood the contract they've signed, or did but after two years have forgotten about it.  As with things like MOTs and vehicle tax, it's pretty easy to set yourself a reminder on a calendar or phone.
