Saving money when eating at home

I usually put them on the hob (switched off) while cooking in the oven.

Water heats up very quickly in a microwave, ceramic plates don't. So if you want them heated up quicker then do that.

For me, I have a gas hob and just turning on the hob for 10 seconds warms up plates nicely and far faster than microwave.

I do make my porridge in a jug in the microwave and stand the jug in a bowl - warms the bowl and helps when there is a volcano

I've never heard of plate warmers and it's a good idea, especially for pasta which gets cold so quickly. I shall investigate.
