How would you use/dispose of a redundant wood-burner?

If it's fitted and working then use itIf the wood that will be used is 'free' then maybe, but a good modern woodburner will be more efficient and justify itself over a few winters.Our old one was theoretically 7- 8 kW, but it didn't put out as much heat as the replacement 5kW one does and it wasn't as controllable either.
