E.ON Next - Estimated Annual Usage for Gas

I have been with E.ON Next since April 2021 (when it was formerly E.ON Energy) and would like to know if anyone else has noticed the following scenario which specifically relates to GAS only:
Up until and including my February statement, the 'Estimated Annual Usage' which is detailed on page 2 of the statement was showing as 6603 kWh. However, since my March statement, this figure has more than doubled and now shows 14638 kWh which then has the knock-on effect of changing the calculated figures under the section 'Your Estimated Annual Cost' on page 1.
I queried this with E.ON and received some extremely convoluted explanation about them having to buy in advance... blah, blah... yadda, yadda... which made no sense whatsoever!!
I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed a change like this as it doesn't help matters when you try to plug your annual usage details into comparison sites (i.e., MSE - Cheap Energy Club) if you are unable to get accurate figures in the first place?
Thanks in advance of any responses.
(P.S. My current tariff with E.ON is their 'Fix Online Exclusive v66' which is now due to expire on April 9, 2022).

I will be doing a proper calculation at the weekend for the last 12 months (and probably contacting E.ON also for an annual usage to double-check my figures) but based on the previous years usage it was 7148 kWh.

Sounds like you have it in hand armed with previous year usage. Sounds like an easy phone call and recalculation.
