Government Energy strategy

I think boosting Nuclear power is a good call. Calling it Green is a stretch but its certainly Zero emissions.
Boosting offshore wind is another good call. There is some concern that it kills a lot of birds but that is unproven and it could be a price worth paying.
No pick up in onshore wind. That's a trickier one. Its cheaper than offshore except that every time one is proposed everybody fights it. With the governments shake up of the planning laws having upset Tory voters already this looks a more political decision than anything. But then, aren't they all.
Opening up more North Sea production seems counter productive given our low carbon ambitions. Do we really want cheap FF energy when renewable's need a high level of investment? The point in the article that more Gas and Oil has been discovered than the human race needs is valid but most of it is in the middle east or Russia. We really could do with our own I suppose. The elephant in the room with the north Sea is Scottish independence. In that event anything could happen.
Whats missing is significant. No additional help with insulation and energy efficiency. Maybe the Govt thinks they've done enough already.
