Switching away from Economy 7 during the summer

It's crazy not to heat your DHW overnight on cheap rate if you have E7. A properly lagged immersion heater tank will stay warm all day. Set the timer to come on a couple of hours before cheap rate ends, that should heat a full tank up.
Any heat that does escape serves to warm the property in winter anyway, so it's not wasted.
The problem with 'seasonal switching' is that you don't know a) when exactly you will need the NSH's back on and b) you don't know how long they will take to switch you between E7 and single rate.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
If there is an electric shower fitted can you switch off the heating element and use the hot water tank instead?0

In this case just a timer for the immersion heater will not help much.
Using a kettle for some hot water to wash up will make more sense here.
Seems to be a strange setup to have hot water by immersion heater and an electric shower, when are you supposed to use the water in the tank?0 -
Can’t see any company willing to change you over twice a year. Yes they can do a totaliser so you don’t need a meter exchange but what happens if we have a cold snap after you’ve changed to standard. For the difference in price don’t think this is really cost effective. Also your responsibility to contact them to get it done, what if you forget.0
