Presumably Neilson are providing resort transfers from Cagliari to your hotel?

You have not mentioned the date of travel.  Have you looked to see what the regular web fare is for BA on the LGW OLB flight vs the BA LGW CAG flight.  If similarly priced then perhaps raise that with Neilson and ask why you can not be booked on the BA OLB flight instead (I thought however BA operated OLB from LHR).

Thank you all. The flight that neilson have changed to us is a charter with BA LGW CAGLIARI Rather than a scheduled flight so I imagine if they don’t put us in the charter they will have wasted seats and the cost will be greater.  I’ve written a formal complaint to both NatWest The travel agent and the CEO of Neilson whose name was at the end of the letter telling us of changes. His excuse was that their normal charter partner could not get the anticipated slots at LGW as BA and Easy jet were taking them . I have no idea how slots are allocated but it seems odd that an airline can lose slots this late in the game. …

What outcome do you want? Sounds like Neilson won’t rebook you to the flights you want, so the options are a refund or stick with what you have.
You could book the flights with BA yourself and then take your travel agent to court for the cost, I don’t know if you would win. Not sure the courts view of you getting back the costs for the flights you’d booked in the first place.

Although I can understand your annoyance, flight times/carriers do change and booking conditions I expect allow for this.

If Neilson are still providing resort transfers, whilst a longer transfer at least this is one less worry. Hopefully you can rest on the coach.  Had they been expecting you to make your own way from CAG to the resort then I would expect them to have covered those costs.

Thank you - the issue is that sailing beaches tend to be open say 9.30 to 4 or so with sometimes a gap for lunch. On day 1 therefore as well as no sleep we may only have a couple  of hours to sail if we have the energy due to the 156 mile transfer. On the last day instead of sailing in the morning and going to an adjacent airport for an evening flight we have to leave resort at 5am and sit on a coach for 2.5 hours plus missing a whole day of sailing. So a great reduction in overall time spent doing the activity which is the purpose of the holiday ….

Is that activity priced separately on the invoice?  If you paid for n days of sailing but will only get n-1, that may support a claim for the difference....

I'm curious what the difference in price would have been had you booked your own BA flights and accommodation separately.
