My Dual Fuel fixed tariff has just come to an end and today I had an email from British Gas to say they have moved me to the Standard Variable tariff, but it will not be above Ofgem’s energy price cap.  Does this sound ok?

Coming of a fixed rate you will be up for a heavy price shock, but nothing that can be done about it. All fixed rates available at the moment will be even more expensive.

Yes, but come the next cap rise announcement, some who’ve gone onto SVT will be looking at current Fixed Tariff deals enviously.

You missed out the word "possibly". No one knows what the rates will be in Oct.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

According to current situation with the gas wholesale prices, the fixes are more expensive. This doesn't mean this won't change in the future, we still have a few months left to go.
