Police (without telling me) seized my car from my allocated parking at my home wrongly

Much to our horror my son and I were completely perplexed to find our new car was missing 😔 after some scrutinizing our CCTV was even more perplexed  when we saw it had been pinched by no other than our boys in blue, anyway I found out that the police believed I had or the owner or associate had broken the law and committed some sort of crime in the vehicle I had just brought the day before the police took the car, after some lengthy time it was to  my horror that a letter arrived from DVLA, believing it to be my new log book was now hoping I would get my car back now I had the title, but on opening the letter to my horror found it wasn't my new log book for our new car it was a log book stating that DVLA had crushed our new car 😠 and it no longer was a car most likely on it's way to being a new washing machine, then after a few days of trying to find out from the police what in the hell was going on to no avail came home a day or two later to find a letter hand delivered from the police stating that they were very sorry for the inconvenience of them taking our car but now they were satisfied we were nothing to do with the offences committed in the car said they were happy to give me our car back and that because it wasn't anything to do with us only had to take this letter to our local recovery (CMG Milton Keynes) which on producing this letter would give proof I was to be given our car back and didn't have to pay the usual exorbitant storage fees, but obviously this was just one more kick in the teeth being that I'd just received a DVLA crushed vehicle logbook.
I'm a single parent on disability benefits that saved up the £1700 to buy my son and I a life changing vehicle desperately needed to get my son too and from school and myself to the many hospital appointments for knew knees and other overdue operations I need so can anyone please help us I have been given the cold shoulder over and over again eventually after being told by police to put in a complaint asking to be compensated  for their blatant mistakes and after being warned this could take a long time to be dealt with have waited and waited and waited and am so desperately needing a car as my disabilities have got so much worse and to have the car we saved for for such a long time after they admitted their massive mistakes isn't much to ask for but now with the pandemic near on behind us am hoping this problem can be sorted but don't know who and how to do so I totally understand that it happened just before the pandemic and the polices priorities was on more important issues but surely it's time to give me a car of similar value or the market value in cash to buy a similar vehicle.
Please can anyone help us ? I'm being led around the garden path over and over again and also have misplaced the bit of paper with the officers name and so on on 😬😩😵😢

I think you likely need to contact Citizens Advice and a lawyer who'll be able to give you a free consultation.
You may as well talk to the local press as well, they'll love a story about the police crushing a disabled persons car and the pressure might force the police to take it a bit more seriously.

Sadly if the car has already been disposed of then the best you're likely to manage is to get your money back.

If the police are being sloow, this might be one to ask your MP about too.  They might be able to lean on the police to move faster.

We’ll have you got the letter which releases your vehicle from the pound? Have you tried getting the vehicle from the pound?

Maybe your local Police and Crime Commissioner could help resolve this issue. They are elected, so will want to keep members of the public happy.

Did you actually go to the pound?  Had the vehicle actually been crushed?

Have you raised a complaint with the Police?

Are those questions actually answered in that huge block of unpunctuated text?

Sad, isn't it, that so many would prefer to take the p out of somebody than try to help.  The OP did say they are disabled, but that clearly means nothing.  Yes, it's a lot easier to read properly punctuated text, but not that difficult to read without.

In this instance I would suggest getting onto the location where the car is supposedly being held.  It's possible that the DVLA have coincidentally sent the wrong letter.  If the car actually has been crushed, get straight on to your local MP and the Police and Crime Commissioner for your area.
