how long does it take people to pay?!

i sold a few auctions last night, trying to get a bit of cash for christmas, but so far only half the people have paid. i'm not complaining as much as asking those of you with far more experience than me, how long people usually take to pay? it's paypal only on these ones to avoid any delays for christmas posting.... if people put on a bid 15 secs before the end of the auction, don't they stick around for 30secs to pay?!

Becuase lots of people use a sniper to bid in the last seconds and they are not actually there in person.
Have you sent invoices already to all those who have not paid? If not, do so as its a reminder to the buyers.
Personally, I send all invoices and a reminder after 3 days and again after 7 then on day 8 its the last "pay up now" sort of thing. Day 9 (approx) I tend to start non-payer process.
The Ebay rules gives a buyer upto 7 days to pay.0 -
ah - hadn't thought of the sniper tool! i know they have 7 days to pay, but if i don't have the money in about 20 mins i won't be able to get back to post office until probably tuesday, then i'll expect some comments about slow postage in my feedback for anyone who pays today or tomorrow lol. sent all invoices out as soon as the auctions ended but a reminder on sunday is a really good idea- thanks!:happyhear0

Maybe a polite e-mail saying if they want the item before Xmas, then to pay rapidly
Unfortunately slow payers are part of eBay life.0 -
I always try to see if the non payers have been online since the auction ended, if they have then i would email them straight away reminding of payment.
The only way I know of seeing if someone has been online since is by looking at thier feedback and if they left any.
Maybe someone here knows a better way of checking this.0 -
You should put in your auction listing that you only post on such and such a day/s and items not paid for by such and such a day will not be dispatched until you next posting day,
That way if people want it quick they will pay quick if not you then you know you have done your bit and you can sleep easy.0 -
grrr... i think i have my first non payer. they have paid for stuff that ended after what i was selling (lots of nice feedback) and have left feedback after the auction end date too. i sent another copy of the invoice on sunday and just sent an email from ebay messages telling them i could get it in the post on thursday (last date before christmas) if they paid me by the end of tomorrow. they bought an identical item 2 days beforehand (cosmetics GWP sizes) so i think the bid on my item was a 'mistake'. humpf - no chance of relisting for christmas then! (and this isn't so bad in the grand scheme of things - other people have far worse ebay experiences, it just still irks me!):happyhear0

it really annoys me to as 2 of these were won on buy it nows,so why not just pay it now,or at least indicate you will be paying by cheque or postal order and dont want it for xmas.its so simple ???...work permit granted!0 -

You can still open a non-paying bidder dispute even if you think they may have made a mistake then at least you'll get your listing fees back!**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

i had a guy 2 weeks ago won the item didnt pay so i opened a dispute,2 days into the dispute he pays me,this was a friday,on the sunday he sends me an email asking where is my item i paid for it 3 days ago.
so i politly reminded him that unfortunatly it took him 10 days to pay by paypal and then expects instant delivery on a sunday!
