Working from home tax relief

Hi
Looking for some help with claiming tax relief and working from home.

I was employed with employer 1 in March 2020 and started WFH. I was with them until Nov 2020 when I moved to another employer.  I didn’t receive any WFH allowance from employer 1.

Employer 2 paid a £13 per month allowance for WFH from Jan 2021 - Sept 2021.  I’m currently still working some days from home but no allowance.

I can’t figure out how to claim/input this information online.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Many thanks
Nicola

Assuming that coronavirus restrictions obliged you to WFH for some part of the tax year in both 2020/21 and 2021/22, you can claim £6 a week for each year, less the allowance you received of £13 a month, apportioned over the two years according to when it was due. Probably you claim £312 - (£13 x 3) = £273 for 2020/21 and £312- (£13 x 6) = £234 for 2021/22, assuming you use the flat rate. For 2022/23 you have to meet the original criteria for WFH pre coronavirus.
  • Thanks so much for your help. That’s useful to see it broken down like that  - makes much more sense.

    Many thanks!
