    OP doesn't make any mention at all about manufacturer warranty or age of the vehicle. ;)

    You're right on warranty.

    Though I do give an indication on age of vehicle ;) You have about a (roughly) 5 or 6 year timeframe.

    The 140 bhp 2.0 Tdi engine was still being used in 2012. :) 

    But I'm not nerdy enough to know the age range of a MK5.

    I knew someone would come in with differing years, which is precisely why I used the word roughly :)

    I'd be impressed if you could show me a MK5 on a 2003 plate though that isn't private ;)

    To my knowledge they ran from a 54 plate up until around 58/09 at a guess. I'd have to go searching to see how far out I am on that.

    As for when the 2.0 tdi 140bhp was made in the MK5 between those dates I have no idea. But as I don't like when others are being overly cryptic on here, hers is an 05 plate.

    I wasn't being cryptic - I was simply remarking that this engine wasn't restricted to the MK5 (presumably) as I know someone who had a Golf GT that was a 12 plate and it had the 140bhp 2.0 tdi engine. :)
