Then our tenant decided he wanted Sky, so Sky installed another dish on the side of the house, without our permission. We live in the house now and don't have or want Sky, we intend to just remove the dishes and wiring. If there had been a contract which included the wiring and dish being owned by Sky, surely they would have reconnected what was already there when the tenant wanted it?

Had NTL cabled up *this house yonks ago. Switched provider for a few years and cut up all the old (NTL) cables. Returned to Virgin a few years later, and they installed new cabling & splitters and said nothing about the originals.Cabling is a consumable to them. Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.2 -

Equally surprised they didn't just say no, as there's no business in it for them. Do verify that they aren't going to charge you to remove it if they do come.We had an old cable installed by Diamond Cable, before NTL, before Virgin, and no longer used at the other end. It came out of the brown box on the outside of the house our cable broadband comes through. Builder just cut it near the box and removed the extra run as we were having an extension built. Virgin (who I'm still with) sent an engineer out some years later to replace the hub and I mentioned the cut wire to him so he just removed what was left without any fuss.

First, they will have my address so will know where to check, and have a pretty good idea of who did it. At the moment I can just say they had been removed by persons unknown, in the unlikely event that they even notice. If they do notice then you'll need to make sure that all google streetview, EA pics etc have been removed from the internet, or else don't show the Virgin equipment. Unfortunately living in the information age means lots of potentially incriminating evidence is out there, some of it we don't know about.People have found that an approach similar to Bendy's "I know nothing about it/Before my time" has failed thanks to google's gift to posterity. As the property owner the liability probably remains with you, although in a genuine case of theft/vandalism by a third party I guess Virgin would be sympathetic if the damage was promptly reported to them.Yes, Virgin are well known for going to this length. Ma botty. This is NUTS! These cables have been unused for at least one ownership of this house, and are hanging off the wall by their bare tee... nails.Rip the damn things off.Mil has just bought a bungalow in a 'retirement village'. Every property is festooned with a Sky dish, apart from one. Hers. It did have one for the first day after completion, but the next day I removed it and give it away.Murdoch ma botty.1 -

Ma botty.I didn't say Virgin do go to that length.I was only pointing out that if you go to the trouble of lying about what happened to the cables then it is a good idea to make sure there is no evidence that proves your lie (also known as 'perverting the course of justice' in some situations)If you have the cojones to "Rip the damn things off" then just fess up if Virgin come asking, rather than doing the chocolate-smeared-face toddler thing of saying "it wasn't me".0 -

I know Virgin won't remove them, technically their property etc.Definitely their property. If you damage/remove the equipment then Virgin may try to bill you for repairs...
I also wouldn't suggest they're the cable company property anymore. Router / Modem / TV box yes but not the cables.0
