If you pay by direct debit it’s usually every 6 months to avoid getting a review every time a bill goes out1

I left EDF last year partly because of this policy. That and Eon we're offering a better fix than they could.
I recorded my readings, and entered them online to EDF, monthly anyway and calculated the associated costs. I even adjusted my DD through an online chat if necessary to keep me on track for a (close to) zero balance at end of contract.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Contact Chat and ask for one. They will say that will generate a DD review but when I did it this week there was no changeNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

I have requested two bills whilst on fixed DD. I have never been told to expect a DD review and never had one. EDF informed me of the price increases from 1St April and suggested that I should increase my DD but did not specify a new DD amount. My DD review is not due until June. I have now changed to whole amount varible monthly DD so that I can have monthly bills without asking. I'm not sure how they get away with 6 monthly billing, especially not now with the eyewatering costs of energy.

British Gas do this too. The first company I have been with that does. If you pay by fixed monthly DD then no bills until the account is reviewed after 12 months. It constantly worries me that there'll be a shortfall in October 2022. There is a part on the online account which shows if you're on track and suggests if the DD needs changing. BUT my balance goes more and more in credit when my monthly DD is paid as no bill is produced so it gives a false sence of security.
I've taken it upon myself, like the last poster, to keep monthly meter readings and put in a spreadsheet to keep track of my monthly spend.Original Debt £37,493.25 @ 25/05/2019 - Now £0 @ 24/02/2023 - £37,493.25 - 100% paid0 -
The cost of producing a monthly bill and producing an email must be minimal. As it is I have gone onto Chat every month to get them to generate a bill, every time they come back and say you are on six monthly billing , evert time I say I want a bill. every time they say OK but be warned a DD review will be generated. This too-ing and fro-ing takes half an hour - they could save a few Chat operators .Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1

We pay monthly DD, and have smart meters but are yet to get a bill from EDF.
Does anyone know how often they send bills out?
The default one - "Direct Debit with regular monthly payments" doesn't produce bills very often, possibly only annually, from looking at this old guide - https://www.edfenergy.com/sites/default/files/better-bill-customer-guide-old.pdf - but there can be interim bills based on actual meter reads.
The other option - "Direct Debit with exact monthly payments" produces a bill each month. I've switched to this option and have had a bill each month, January, February and March, since I switched from UP.0 -
I'm cynical about everything EDF. My experiences with them were pretty poor so I left. Over a month later they still haven't been able to sort my final bill out. (Screen shot taken today). As I reckon I may owe them on this bill I'm quite happy to wait for them to sort this out. But it's not exactly confidence inducing!Install 28th Nov 15, 3.3kW, (11x300LG), SolarEdge, SW. W Yorks.
