We will be coming from up North round the M25 then A3 and A283 down to near Chichester with our car and caravan. Will need a break after leaving the M25 but not sure if there is anywhere with suitable parking?

There are a few parking spots and Wisley service station on the A3 south of the M25 or you could detour to Ripley. I recommend the Talbot pub in Ripley.

Where do you want to end up as the A283 will take you quite a way east of Chichester?

The best route from the M25 to Chichester towing a caravan is the A3 and A27 unless you enjoy slow single carriageway roads.
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

There's services at Wisley South (near Ripley).
Has a Starbucks, BP petrol and M&S.

The carpark is a little tight for a caravan but if you drive through, the road back out to the A3 has a layby for large vehicles.
I often stop there (either way) tugging a large trailer, though the layby south is far bigger than the layby north.

Thanks for the suggestions, will have a look at them.  We are going to Slindon, A1, A1M, M25, A3, A283, A285.
We plan to stop at Baldock but will ignore the impossible to exit caravan parking area and go to the HGV bit, then another stop near Guildford will be ideal.

Be aware that the A3 southbound around Guildford can be very congested during late afternoon rush hour, especially on Fridays.

The A3 narrows from 3 lanes to 2 lanes.

If you can avoid that time of day.

I can recommend The George pub in Eartham which is near Slindon.

Well we stopped at the first one after joining the A3. Easy to park with the caravan but fuel was expensive and the toilet’s disgusting!
