Changing radiator

Hi everyone we're changing a standard radiator to a tall towel one. The distance between the pipes is 55cm

Can't find a 55cm one in the colour I like for our budget.

The radiators I like are either 45cm or 60cm wide. I'm ordering straight valves as we don't want to change the pipe work that is coming from the floor

Do I need to purchase some sort of extension so the pipes are closer/wider and if so can anyone tell me what they're called and if it's better to go wider or closer than the existing pipes.
Thank you!

Is the 55cm measurement from the centre of one pipe to the centre of the other? If so, a lot of 60cm towel radiators will have 56cm pipe centres which should do the job for you. See below for an example:

As above, the pipe centres for a towel rad tend to be c.50mm less than the width of the rad itself, the bigger problem is that it's likely that the towel rad will be further away from the wall than a standard panel radiator so the pipes will probably neen dog-legging anyway.
Sorry I can't think of anything profound, clever or witty to write here.

God I wish I new this before ordering! When I read how to measure is said go by the distance between the pipes. It also said never go bigger than the one that's in place now so I went with a 45cm one :/

Crikey you asked your question at 7am and got a reply 2 1/2hrs later essentially saying to go with 600 version - you didin't give it long before placing your order!

JD, how much plumbing DIY are you capable of?
It might be too late - if you've already placed the order - but if you post a photo of what's currently there, we can probably help more.

Are you sure the new rad has at LEAST the same output as your current one, ideally more?

If it's been ordered by phone, email/website etc. then covered by Distance Selling Regulations so could refuse/return.
