Hi
So I bought a car and got the tax on it using the new keeper slip and paid for 6 months except now I am trying to cancel the tax online as would like to sorn the vehicle instead but it says online that the cheque for the refund will be sent to the name on the logbook.. except the issue is I didn't get a logbook from the trade company I bought the car from, they have given me the logbook with the customers details who sold the car to them along with the new keeper slip which is what I used to tax the vehicle... Now I'm not sure how to get a refund as the cheque will end up going to the previous keeper? Could I phone and explain this to them or am I screwed?
Thanks.

Apply for the logbook when it arrives SORN it, or phone the DVLA and see if its being processed already.
Takes 2 minutes to do it online and nobody needs the old V5C its useless.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
You should have registered yourself as the new owner (can be done online if you have the old V5C logbook) regardless of wanting a tax rebate.
Once you have done this, you are then the registered keeper and can apply for the refund.0 -
Note a few days delay is not going to alter the refund amount as it is given in full months so whether you sorn it today or 30th April the refund will be the same.0

Dates ?An on line keeper change usually takes less than a week for a new V5 to be issued. What date does it give for the last V5 issued here https://vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/
