myenergi eddi vs battery

Hi

Just wondering what's better? The myenergy Eddi or a battery? I think the zappi is worth it regardless? But the Eddi is a toss up between the eddi or battery storage, I think?

    Very much depends on you.
Do you have a hot water tank, with an immersion element?
If so, the eddi will be much cheaper than a battery and inverters.

The downside of eddi is it can only heat, and batteries can provide electricity,  but it really depends on you

I mean it could be coupled with mixergi? Could you have both?

Mixergy is a hot water tank.
It's a ever version of it, but it is just a water tank its Not a battery.

In that sense you could get either a mixergi /eddi hot water tank as well as a battery?

I think it's worth just saying that the Eddie is only a solar diverter, seems to be about the best out there and since I had a zappi and hub installed a few weeks ago, I have seen the myenergi stuff, and I like it, so I will be going for an eddi myself.

So it's job is to see solar going to the grid and instead use it to heat a water tank, and I believe it can be used with a mixergy water tank.

You can definitely have batteries as well.
What I'd advise is seeing where you would get best value fir your pounds

Has anyone linked the eddi up to a 2nd device yet? I plan on having mine linked to the immersion heater and a radiator to heat my airing cupboard.

There are rumours of a myenergi battery in the offing but I think the chip shortage is delaying that. As a Zappi owner I'd be interested in keeping with the same architecture.
Zappi is nice in that it can use surplus solar but when placed against cheap rate octopus go for example, it's not that clear cut given the extra cost compared to cheaper chargers.
I have a different diverter which heats up a towel rail in the bathroom once the water is hot.  Perfect application imop as when the heating is off in summer the towels used to stay damp. A rare summer only application for solar

Towel rad is a great shout, nothing worse than damp towels after a shower.
Might look into that also, was really trying to think of ways to use all the extra energy when it's available.

Just make sure that they are resistive loads, and do not have any electronic controls on the rads.

So an oil filled electric radiator with a thermostat won't work?
That's what I was thinking of doing.
