Cabot texts

I received a txt from Cabot saying they need to contact me. 
I have just sold my London home and instructed my solicitor to pay ALL outstanding debts including one on my file from Cabot.
I assumed they were contacting me regarding the account closure. 
I clicked on the link and it turned out to be a demand for £3000 for a computer course from over 10 years ago I signed up for but cancelled before I attended. I know about statute barred etc but as I have communicated with them has it reopened the account now.
It is sheer coincidence (or is it?) That I closed an account at the same time they contacted me. I am devastated because I thought after nearly 20 years I am finally debt free!!??

Once a debt is statute barred it will not be reset by contacting them, so the account will not be reopened. 
If you look at the top of the debt free wannabe forum there is a sticky with letters that you can send for various things, and one of them is for statute barred debts. Once they receive it Cabot should stop chasing and have it written off.
