Whatsapp help - lost all my messages moving from Android to Iphone, and some very special messages:(

Hi all,
Couldn't think of where else to ask - there's very little tech support at Whatsapp.
I'm fairly technical but I think this needs more specialist knowledge.
I moved (don't @ me
) after many years from Android to IOS for a change. I didn't quite realise the issues moving across until I did it, and now realise that whatsapp doesn't transfer properly.
My issue is that I then moved to an eSIM for the Iphone so I could stick the work physical SIM in too, which works well. But that now means that I can't move the SIM back to my old phone to retrieve my messages - as the physical SIM is now not provisioned..
I've now just realised that I don't have access to the (years of) messages me and my brother sent each other. He passed away last year, and it was comforting to have them around.
Any ideas? I'd be really grateful of some help. I know they're all backed up on Googledrive - I just don't know where or if they're even interpretable now.

Do you only use if from the desktop or can you now have more than one device using Whatsapp? I thought it routed using the phone number.

Doesn't help with the cross platform back up issue, but I can't see anything in my web.whatsapp.com that suggests still in beta ?
It also says on screen
" Use Whatsapp on up to 4 linked devices and 1 phone at the same time"
I use it on desktop, phone and Facebook Portal

Is there a "hardware" solution here? Convert the eSim back to a physical sim, is actually cancelling the iphone eSim registration and moving the number to a new sim. Would have to be facilitated by your network, presumably by visiting a store.
The sim could then be put into an Android phone and used to access the Whatsapp backup.
Does this hold together?2 -
Doesn't What'sApp just send a SMS to the SIM?
If so the SIM doesn't have to be in the Android phone.1 -
