I find it usually populates the data after 24 hours, but there certainly are times when it seems stuck for a few days. The Bright app usually provides the data the following day, but not in real time of course.

All I can find about the breakdown is at https://www.edfenergy.com/for-home/help-centre/faq/how-does-energy-hub-work-out-my-energy-breakdown#node-teaser-21432. The answer seems to be 'just trust the algorithm'!

I had an energy monitor a few years ago that was able to do this, but you had to teach it first. Seems that each electric device has a different footprint when it switches on and off and the monitor was able to track the devices once it was taught the characteristics.

Seems they are no longer selling through major retailers now and was with 179£ not cheap.

Appreciate this is an old thread, but just wondering what is the benefit to EDF for providing all this data? They seem very keen on a) getting you onto a smart meter, then b) getting you to agree to 1/2 hourly meter readings, then c) getting you to "activate Energy Hub". I'm smelling a rat... somewhere!

I guess them being able to manage/predict load would be a good idea for them.
For me to have a smart meter fitted there needs to be some advantage, such as a decent TOU tariff.
  • I use the EDF data to analyse trends, I have just worked out that my meter isn't switching off the economy 7 devices at 8am, and is in fact still using them for upto 1 hour after the cheap rate ends (varies every day).   Its costing my upto £3 a day extra for  electricity I shouldn't be able to use. !!!
