Hello everyone,
My credit score is quite bad due to an unfortunate default I got on my credit score some 1 year ago and also no credit card history. I am looking to get a credit building credit card, but I want to make sure before I apply, that the chances to get accepted are as high as possible.
What are some of the things I could do to find out whats the card I should apply for to have higher chances of being approved.
Regards, Marian

Use an eligibility checker. Cards like aqua and Vanquis will be your best bets to build a credit history (not the score).0

Your lack of credit history is more of an issue, you don't have a credit score in the UK, the gimmick score you see is a novelty and is never seen nor used by lenders0

I just tried Aqua's eligibility checker out of curiosity and got a straight-out rejection.
1 CCJ that drops off in Nov.
1 default listed from 2017.
Electoral Roll; same address for >30 years; normal bank account well in credit; earning decent enough money; and a car loan that I've been paying without an issue since last year and is a fraction of what I earn.

The CCJ, default and current debt is generally enough for the decline by themselves. But make sure you check all your files to see if there is anything else.
Make sure the default and CCJ are showing as settled (or have dropped off) before you apply elsewhere.0
