Switch blocked by company I was switching to

I switched just before Avro went bust. They allowed me to switch the gas (no surprise there) but refused to switch my electric.
I tried to appeal and got a support ticket that said they would reply to within 5-10 days, but they went bust a few days later before replying.
I have the gas switched to Sainsbury's on a 2 years fix but was assigned Octopus by Ofgem for electric as that was still with Avro.
I would like to get my electric on to the 2 year fix with the gas which was accepted by Sainsbury's.
Ofgem has assigned me Octopus but not on a better or fixed deal. I have appealed but had no reply since last November when they said:
"Avro has only given us a small amount of information to get started. In this situation we didn't receive your details straight away but please don't worry we will have them shortly."
I just received an email from Octopus warning about the April price hike.
I have had emails from Avro then Octopus and Sainsbury's all asking for my electric reading, who should I give it to? I will have 5 months of electric bills to pay if I get a bill now as I have not known who to pay.

I should add, if I pay the wrong one I don't want to end up in a dispute to get a refund because now the bill will be huge.

Switching gas and electricity are separate industry processes. Clearly something has gone wrong but as Avro is no longer a Supply Licence holder then you have no recourse against them or, for that matter, Octopus. Have you asked Sainsburys whether it will agree to the 2 year electricity fixed tariff? My guess is that they will say no - that said, it is worth asking. If Sainburys does agree, then just initiate a switch to them from Octopus. Give your meter reading to Octopus but check the database to confirm that it is your nominated supplier.

In that case, you will need to pay Octopus for all the electricity supplied from the date that it was appointed as the SoLR for Avro. You are free to initiate a switch at anytime. Only Sainsburys will know whether it will accept a transfer on old tariff terms. Best of luck.
