Declaring motoring convictions

Insurers want details of motoring convictions for the last five years but the only source for this information is the DVLA - and they only record four years. I know I had convictions five years ago but can’t remember the details. What should I do?

The court issuing it should be able to tell you, if you can't find any paperwork for it.

Or you can talk to the insurer and explain you can't remember the details.

Not much use if the endorsements arose from Fixed Penalties.

Maybe it's different in Scotland, but I had to go into the court to pay my Fixed Penalty  (TS10 about 5 years ago). I assume it must still be recorded somewhere, or is it purely with the DVLA?

Have you checked your renewal note? Usually the answers you gave last year will be on there, along with a "please check these details carefully and notify us on any changes" type instruction.

If they're not on the renewal note, are you sure that (a) you declared them correctly last time and (b) they were for and a bit years old, not five and a bit years old ("five years ago" is a little ambiguous).

It must be. Courts have no involvement with Fixed Penalties in E&W.
