I bought one of these last summer from Sterling Build complete with flashing kit, insulation collar and vapour barrier.  Total cost was £978.12

Was thinking about adding two more, only to see the price now is £1,446.54!!!!!  An increase of £468.42 per window which is a hike of 48%

WOW!!!

Can anyone recommend any other comparable brands quality wise for less?

  • You could try keylite very similar!
Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

Wow, that is some jump but I'm not surprised. I wanted to replaced my up and over garage door with a motorised roller, got a quote from a firm that had done an excellent job on my neighbours just last spring and it's gone up from £1,100 to £1,600 for the exact same model and the same amount of work (we have identical houses). In one year!
I spoke to the owner and he said that he's actually making less margin even at the higher price because both the garage door cost has shot up and so has the cost of employing fitters, he simply can't find anyone.
I decided against the upgrade eventually, just too bloody expensive on top of everything else going on cost-of-living wise.

Here's a vote for Keylite, my builder couldn't source Velux in a reasonable time last year, so he recommended Keylite. I took his recommendation as didn't want to hold up the build waiting for Velux (and it would be him sorting them out if anything failed).

Touch wood, they have been in since June / July and so far they have been absolutely fine, and once they are in you really wouldn't be able to tell them from Velux. (And they were cheaper).
