Old BG Smart Meter showing wrong readings. engineer visit for today cancelled an hour before arrival

Hi folks, absolutely fuming here..

I have a smets1 meter that is rubbish.

A few months ago the Elec reading went back to 0 a week after an engineer visit to improve the SMETS1 communication box, which wasn't even successful.

Booked another engineer appt a month ago for today to upgrade to SMETS2.
Just had a text cancelling the appointment with an hour to go. Fuming.

Taken the day off work as well. So i am still no closer to being able to submit my april 1st reading. 

To top it off, it seems BG are unavailable for calls at the weekend? Cant be waiting another month for the upgrade!

    Not much help, but BG will owe you £30 for that late cancellation under their standard terms of service so do ask for that when you do get through to them.

    Its another £30 on top if they fail to pay within 10 days...
    They have been in trouble over this before...

    Also be aware that you may have to chase for it.   Missed my smart meter installation appointment a couple of months ago and then didn't pay in time. However, I had to go onto chat to get it (and then had to tell the chat agent what the rules were....). Still got my £60 in the end.   

    When I mentioned this to the guy who came a few days later to put in the smart meter he said one lady was very disappointed that he actually turned up at the appointed time as she had 5 previous missed appointments and £150 compo and was looking forward to another £30 😅
