Anyone here feel like their energy direct-debit payments are being front-loaded?
Options
Hi all, I've just gone into bat with my energy provider to try to understand the discrepancy between my direct debit forecast estimates and theirs. After stating that they were not factoring-in any October 2022 price cap rises into their estimates, they told me their current estimates of my future usage over a 12 month period, which is way over mine (I have managed to recently shave 30% off of my combined gas and electricity usage for the last six months). My worry is that my provider could be using old usage data showing higher consumption in order to come up with their high estimates, so my direct debit will be way too high, and will only start to drop once my more recent usage stats start to filter-in. To my cynical mind, this could also be a convenient way for my provider to improve their cashflow.
I would love to know if my experiences are chiming with anyone else?

Have you tried to reduce your DD using your suppliers online tools.:?
Just done that with EDF for my Electricity fix till Sept 24 - now in line with my own predictions.Ignoring the £200 in October I will still be in credit at the end of the fix.
# Where EDF got their guess from I have no idea.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Yes, just done that. Will be interesting to see if they adjust the DD payment back up again...
