If you think electricity you consume only comes from renewable sources...I have a bridge in Brooklyn you might be interested in.

Sadly, there are so many reasons why energy has gone up. Even though the UK doesn't consume so much from places like Russia, things like the war have complicated matters in the whole global market which has affected the unit rate, and as such the problems just run down the chain, energy suppliers sell energy at a loss, they shut down or go into administration, the cost of setting up the Supplier of Last Resort and so on are all added onto things like the standing charge.

    Welcome to the forum.
Here is an article at The Conversation that explains it in more detail than I can:

    N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.
    2.72kWp PV facing SSW installed Jan 2012. 11 x 247w panels, 3.6kw inverter. 34 MWh generated, long-term average 2.6 Os.
Not exactly back from my break, but dipping in and out of the forum.

The "special military operation" in Ukraine had nothing to do with the April increase which happened nearly 3 weeks after OFGEM announced the new price cap which was probably decided a couple of weeks to a month prior.

As this snapshot shows, renewables are not a guaranteed source of energy. Note the amount of electricity that is being produced from gas and coal.
