Facebook Ads

Past couple of days, I'm getting ads on Facebook, which are totally, irrelivent to me. The problem is, I can't hide them. Both in Firefox, and Brave. I know how I should be able to hide them, but it's not working. I click on hide had, and click on irrelevant, the click done, but the ad remains. A lot are for gambling apps, and slot machines, and games, something I never use. Is this new to Facebook, that you can't hide ads anymore? This is on my pc by the way.

You know what uranium is, right? It's this thing called nuclear weapons. And other things. Like lots of things are done with uranium. Including some bad things.

I wasn't a great user of Facebook over the years, and used it a bit more in the first lockdown period but after a few weeks and  being bombarded with ads that had nothing to do with me , I had enough and treat it like death.

One of the ads I kept blocking ( a huge razor manufacturing company , and definitely not the best a man can get anymore ), kept reappearing multiple times in a short period .
After being asked in the multiple sections why I don't want their poxy ads , I still got them 🤬😤
The reason I was getting these ads , was because one of my Facebook friends uses them... ( maybe that's where the source is coming from )

I have almost closed the Facebook account, only keeping it open because I have home video workouts with my personal trainer on messsenger  ( it's very cheap session so no mse alarm bells ringing😼 )

On my list of messenger  friends , I see an audio co I did follow but not added as friend.
Once these companies get you, is there really no escape ?

Apologies for the long winded post , which may or may not help 😼

If I HAVE to have ads, I would rather they were irrelevant. Easier to ignore, and helps me to believe I am not being tracked (so much).

Never had ads before, all of a sudden BANG, every other post is an add. Reinstated FB Purity - I had deactivated it as it didn't seem to be doing anything - and all is well in the world :)
  • FB Purity is a superb piece of software, and it does the job.

I have found scripts that block the advert feeds and pagelets.  You may need to add them manually.   Not a FB user
so I cannot test to see which ones work or what tweaks they may need.

Easily found with a google search.  Seems Purity maybe the way forward though.

Strangely, about once a month, I started getting loads of ads on my timeline.  I do have UBlock.  Also, ads of no on things I have no interest in.  I have to go through the hide, not interested but then hit the circle to refresh, and they are gone.  A few weeks later, they are back.  Of course, to manage your ads is useless, and you cannot tick any ads at all there.
