Hi my antivirus software program (Norton) is picking these program as needing updates

microsoft live essentials (update not detected)
movie maker (ditto)
windows photo gallery (update not supported)
microsoft visual C++ Redistributable 2005 (ditto)

Are they not updating because they are obsolete and need to be uninstalled? Have run windows updater and trouble shooter. Am a pc laptop windows 10.Is it just a case of going to control panel to delete them all . With much thanks Urk

Windows Essentials (which includes Movie Maker, Photo Gallery) hasn't been updated since 2014, dropping all support for it in 2017:

This came with MSN Messenger too.  Which is also defunct, and has been since 2014.

The redistributable may be used by other software.

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know how to update the redistributable as windows update doesn't seem to be doing it for me?

You don't.  They tend to be pushed out through Windows Update.  If there is nothing there, there is no update for them.

I never said it was obsolete.
It'll be used by a program on the computer.  If you get rid of it and something stops working, then...  well reinstall that program.
