Smart metre high monthly usage on 1st day of month

Hi … just checked my smart metre … on 1 April 2022.  My today gas and electric ‘used so far’ is showing as a total of £1.33 and 3.80 kWh.  The month total however (on the first day of the month is showing as £33.22 and 795 kWh (£32.34 of that total is gas).   I’ve checked my metre readings for yesterday on the EDF site and they are correct.  I can’t work out why the smart metre is showing such a high monthly ‘used so far’ on the 1st day of the month.  Can anyone advise please ?   Many thanks !

I think you mean the In House Display that sits in the kitchen; the Smart Meter will be in an outside meter box, in the garage, under the stairs ..............

Don't rely on what the IHD says - that's not what appears on the bill. The IHD is quite crude in its calculations and has probably applied the new rates to all your consumptions.  Additionally Gas will always be approximate as it doesn't know the Calorific Value of the gas

Robin9 .. thanks … I did mean the display (sorry).  Best just keeping a check on the ‘used so far today’ screen then aren’t I and not replying on monthly .. I can check that with my meter readings end of month.

IHDs certainly do have moments.

I once used £2233 of electricity in 7 hours, my usual daily usage is 6 to 7 kWh.
