I know it’s strange, all is ok now.sebtomato said:
Very strange that they would let a 5 figure sum through and then block a £300 payment.Bigwheels1111 said:Opened my account on the 29th, made a test payment from First Direct account, No problem.
Took 5 minutes to arrive.
Then sent a 5 figure sum, all good.
2 hours later needed to add £300, 2 calls to bank asking where it is, asking is there a problem or fraud check needed. They said no. Then 3 hours later and 2 fraud calls, finally got sorted.
The joke is FD has uk based customer service, but fraud calls come from HSBC side and is from India etc,
Who in their right mind would answer banking and security questions to an overseas call centre.
Maybe they are trying to be difficult...
Ive added about £2000 in 8 transactions and no holdups or checks.
Just paid council tax, car insurance, water bill and a few others and now have almost £19 of cash back.
So a bit of messing around at the beginning was ok.1 -

I am paying council tax, water and electricity via monthly direct debit.Bigwheels1111 said:I know it’s strange, all is ok now.

I guess moving to paying by debit card instead could indeed generate some cashback, but also some savings interest, if the same money was placed on my savings account each month to accrue for future bills.0 -
Work great with Santander. I had Chase accounts in the US for many years and never had an issue.
If I remember well, it is one of the biggest regular banks in the US (opposed to investment banks like GS).
This is the kind of account I feel we need to have more, ok saving rate (not the pitiful 0.001% most were given till now) with a current account that does it all, cashback and free oversea withdrawals.Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

Whilst owned by JP Morgan, their UK operation is entirely separate from their US organisation. The IT system they are using is brand new, not been used in the US or linked to the US. Not criticising, just stating some facts.avantra said:I had Chase accounts in the US for many years and never had an issue.

NowI should have put it into savings and paid monthly, to late now.
Might have got a bit more interest.1
