Hi all, i'm wondering if anyone can give me any advice on the following please? I have just received a letter from a law firm saying that in August 2017 - September 2017 I hadnt pay an energy bill of £317. Firstly, I remember always being in front with my energy bills and secondly I was paying around £60 per month for gas at that time so how have they got to £317 and how can they prove that I havent paid? Any suggestions on how to handle this would be much appreciated. Thanks

Did you live in 2017 at the same address you received the bill for now?
Were you a customer of BG?
Are you still a BG customer? If not were you moving away from them so it could be a final bill?
Did you pay by direct debit?
Trying to establish here (same as @QrizB if this is maybe not your debt, but somebody else).0 -
I did live there and was paying direct debit. I dont actually think I was with BG at that time but I cant be sure.0

Also, why would it be left 5 years? If it was a final bill?0

So you were living 5 years ago at the same address you received the letter from the lawyers.
You are not sure if you were a BG customer at that time in question, but I assume you were at one stage, otherwise you would just tell them so.
When you left BG did you get a get a final bill, and paid for it? I assume the 60£ was your direct debit, but did you get a bill what you really owed and paid it in full when you left BG?
4.5 years is a long time, but if you really owe the money they can still ask for it.
Did they send a copy of the invoice for the money they claim you owe?1 -
