British Gas raised their Capped Prepayment meter rates before April 1 st
I ve been contacted by a friend with a none smart electric prepayment meter and she took Martin Lewis s advice and topped up with £80 to get the old rates as advised . I ve seen her meter and the new rates were displayed on the meter yesterday .
BG s new rates from April 1 st are 27. 2 p kwh and 53 p daily standing charge . She topped up the £80 last week but only just checked yesterday and was surprised to see that its already at the new rates on her meter on March 31 st .She expected to see the old rates displayed not the new ones
Has anyone else noticed this ? I m sure that its not allowed by OFGEM to allow new capped rates before the April 1 st deadline
BG are certainly not taking any notice of what Martin Lewis about top ups and are applying new rates on credit top ups before April 1 st and after !

The new rate has started.
She should contact her supplier for tailored advice.0 -
Shes trying.I think it will end up with an OFGEM complaint if BG don t put things right .Applying the new rates last week when she bought her last top up is a double whammy .She uses old style key for top up so the new rates were installed then and transferred to the meter a week before the April 1 st deadline.Martin Lewis s money saver to buy credit in advance has nt worked .I wonder if its worked at all with any supplier ?london21 said:The new rate has started.
