Ex-husband used my details to get Vodafone contract, then defaulted

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice here. I'm trying to apply for a mortgage and recently ran my credit report. I discovered that my ex-husband used my details to open a Vodafone account (he did this whilst we were still married apparently) but then defaulted on the account after we separated. Vodafone registered the default for £28 in January 2018.
Has anyone on here experienced something similar with a positive outcome? I've messaged Vodafone on Facebook to ask for help. Am I likely going to have to pay this off even though it's not my fault?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Have you got any evidence that you will present to Vodafone to back up any request for a record correction? Yes I think you’ll probably need to pay off the historic debt too. Having the default cleared successfully is far more of a priority than paying a pretty minimal debt.Arch0

Report it as fraud to have it taken seriously. Wait to see what they come back with.
Worst case is you settle it and get your mortgage.1 -
Presumably you've been aware of this for some time. Why the lack of action until 4 years later?0

You will need to report the ex to the police (or at least Action Fraud) and be willing to continue with any possible prosecution (unlikely as it may be) in order for them to take you seriously. Just saying it's not yours and expecting it to go away is not going to happen. The default will stay until 2024 otherwise0

No I wasn't aware of this! The default date was 2018, but I haven't had cause to check my credit report until recently so had no idea it was there!Thrugelmir said:Presumably you've been aware of this for some time. Why the lack of action until 4 years later?0 -
Report to Action Fraud then contact Vodafone to report it as fraudulent.

How were the payments made? From your account, their account or a joint account?pilliepop said:Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice here. How have you found out that it was your ex-husband that opened the account?0
