A couple of years ago I layered several pots with bulbs - the idea being that I’d get succession of spring flowers. Never really worked (they all came up together) and this year it just looks a mess.  So I think I’ll take the daffs out and move them into the garden proper.  I know (or at least I think I know) that I’m not supposed to cut the daffs down for about 6 weeks after they finish flowering, but can I move them before that?

and it may be a silly question but I’m quite keen to grow rhubarb - can I grow it in pots?

For the bulbs you really need to let them die down before you move them if you want them to flower next year.
Could you move the pot to in or behind a boeder, shed or something?
Or could you water and carefully remove the whole soil clump and plant.
I tried layering this year and it sort of did what it said on the tin but the display was meh.
Will be single pots next year.
As for rhubarb, I've never seen it in pots but it probably would in a potato bag.
I chucked some roots on a bed of stones and had excellent plant come up. You just never know.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Daffs can be moved "in the green" but may skip next year flowering

Rhubarb in pots, needs a very big pot because very hungry plants, and of course likes plenty of water in the growing season
As 2p says, spud bag or one of those builders bags that gravel arrives in
