When do you know if claim accepted?

Made my first ever claim on car insurance today (Aviva)...my own fault, no other cars involved, pics sent etc....will need a new bumper cover and undertray.
Made claim online and Aviva's recommended repairer has been in touch to sort collection and repair date.
I'm still unclear on two things.
1. Does the fact that they have been in touch mean that Aviva have accepted the claim?
2. Do I only pay the garage my excess (250) and Aviva pay them the rest directly or do I have to pay everything up front and claim it back?
I would call them but I have an 'online' policy which apparently means that all dealings have to be online...and there is no live chat.
Sent an email but no idea when I will hear back.

    1. Not really. The garage, in conjunction with Aviva's office-based engineers, will assess the damage. They will also assess whether the car presented matches the insured risk (correct model, no modifications except those declared....)

    2. You pay the garage £250 and Aviva pays the rest.

Thanks, bit of added stress as not being collected until the 20th of April, will be very pricey if not covered. Can't see why they'd reject the claim as there's no damage other than described but you never know!
As long as they let me know the claim was rejected before going ahead with the repair.

Just in case anyone happens upon this in the future...got a call today to say claim was accepted etc.
I think it was the simplicity of the case that made it so quick.
