Son recently made redundant; what should he apply for?

My stepson has recently been made redundant, and is in the process of moving back here to his parental address.
I'm in receipt of PIP & UC, and my partner receives carers allowance.
Can anybody please advise what the best benefit option would be for him to claim?
Many thanks.

Universal Credit (UC), or possibly New Style JSA depending on his National Insurance contributions over the past 2 full tax years.

If he does not have capital/ savings of more then 16k then he should claim UC or he could claim new style JSA if has enough NI contributions. The Ns JSA is non means tested so wouldn't matter about capital.0
