Wily MSE follower here, took a fix in August 2021 with Symbio,we all know what happened next.
Very much enjoy paying Eon considerably more, miss the entertainment value with Symbio though.
I did lol and backed the wrong horse. Symbio ended up being a knackered three legged variety🤣🤣

My gas has roughly trebled. My electricity is complicated but I've massively dodged the bullet by switching to Octopus Go on 5p/24p fixed until January 2023. Currently 78% of my usage is off peak and that will soon be over 90% when my Givenergy battery finally shows up.

Anyone who can would be well advised to invest in solar, batteries, an EV and the Ripple wind farm.

Took out a 3 year fix with EDF last August. Not so much a bullet dodged than a scud missile.

It's all here, most knowledgeable people know the real rate.

What I was disappointed with was this wasn't explained by Martin on his big energy slot on ITV this week.

There's a massive shock coming to a lot of people that have buried their head in the sand and not bothered to work out the real cost to them come tomorrow.

On the flip side we've had cheap energy for so many years. We were paying £60 a month 18 months ago (elec only as that's all we use ASHP etc no gas or oil) on a fixed rate of 10p kWh 18. Our last supplier Symbio went to the wall with us paying 14p kwH at £75 per month and our new fixed rate 2 year deal with eon next starts tomorrow at 29.24p kwH so we have gone, in a very short time, from £60 to £177.70.

However not moaning it's making us look at things and being more energy efficient, not using the tumble dryer as much, couple less loads of washing a week etc so will be an interesting year to see if our usage goes down a fair amount.
but in places like France it's only 4% increase.
There's a Presidential election in 4 months time. Energy isn't any cheaper in France. Someone is going to foot the bill. Smoke and mirrors so to speak.

The state-controlled energy company (EDF) is taking a massive hit ... (from a profit last year)

Looks like Martin has noticed some suppliers are increasing DD's by more than the cost increase, check around 2 minutes.  He says hes going to raise it to parliament if I read the subtitles right.

When I was with one of the first suppliers to go bust, GB Energy back in 2016, the first sign they were In Trouble was when they increased my DD to get themselves a cash float. (I was well in credit and there was no need)

Those were the days, I got my credit back (eventually) and the CoOp honoured the money losing fixed rates that sent GBE bust for the remainder of my contract, not stuck me on the SVT like a SOLR does now.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))
