I’m a transactional client. I pay direct into my pension once or twice a year and drop an email to my IFA to let them know when I’m going to do that. I’ve never been charged by the IFA for doing that. That’s normal, isn’t it?
No. it is not at all normal.   It would be on an ongoing servicing arrangement (as top ups are usually without initial charge for that) but on a transactional arrangement, the adviser is doing work and taking on liability for advice for free.

That said, some platforms that will allow non-advised transactions to be keyed by the IFA (typically if it doesn't include ITs, ETFs or shares) and some providers of PPPs dont need any work from the adviser at all.

I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

That’ll be it then. It’s a Royal London personal pension that my IFA moved me to from an old Standard Life one.
