PCM and Trace Debt Recovery

Hi, Looking for some assistance from the PNC masters.
First letter dated 18/02/22 received by me regarding a Parking charge (PCN) dated 17/12/21, dated 2 months after the initial alleged breach. I picked up this letter on 25/03/22 and instantly communicated with company (PCM). Stating that I have not received any prior communication and that I wished to appeal it. (Did not state who was driving).
They refused stating that they have passed it onto Trace Debt Recovery who I would have to contact.
Circumstances - 2 very small private car parks for flat blocks, I have a valid permit for one being controlled by PPS and only recently have started using it (Friends address). The car park next to it is controlled by PCM and their signs are almost identical.
After finishing work at 4am I parked in the one controlled by PCM believing it was the same as the one I am authorised to use. The sign for PCM was hidden in the corner behind a vehicle and was not lit up so at 4am at a quick glance I thought nothing of it assuming it was the same being PPS.
Turns out they are completely different car parks. I haven't received any other communication except the one letter demanding £100.
Now they refuse to communicate stating I need to contact Trace Debt Recovery was it's now at £170.......
Where do I stand with this, honest mistake given the not so clear signage and then a lack of communication from PCM.
Help!

Start from realising that it is a speculative invoice. It does not have the force of law and although you may get lots of letters from Trace and their ilk, they have no power.
Do not though be complacent. You need to read the Newbies and understand what happens next and what to do. Keep alert for a proper Letter before Claim.
Have you recently moved, and that explains why you did not get earlier letters? If that is the case you need to correct this and inform the DPO at the parking company of your new address and to erase all others. To ignore that is to lay yourself open to a stealth CCJThe pen is mightier than the sword ..... and I have many pens.3 -
Have you read the NEWBIES thread?
Covers all your questions and all stages. Certainly no contacting PCM nor Trace again, except for a SAR from PCM as per the second post in the NEWBIES thread.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

TRACE are telling you lies, they have added a fake £70. TRACE ARE SCAMMING YOU
TRACE offer their client, that's PCM, a no win no fee service meaning if you don't pay TRACE ....PCM got their service for free ?
SO, IGNORE TRACE and their rubbish and any future junk mail from them, there is only one place ... the sewer
PCM might pass it to one of the dodgy legals, probably Gladstones, if so come back here

Thank you for the replies above, the newbies thread is fairly confusing to navigate but in short I cannot appeal unless I got to IAS but that's a waste if time also? So I wait for a CCJ to arrive if it ever does and then come back here?0

A CCJ - i.e. a County Court Judgment - will never 'arrive'.
However, a County Court Claim may well arrive and you will need to defend yourself such that a County Court Judgment goes in your favour.5 -
Despite the NEWBIES thread saying don't bother with IAS, and despite it being an appalling kangaroo court, we now say try it anyway.
Supply photo evidence and write it in your own words (no template).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
