Question on witness signature

Can anyone advise I have a loan agreement with my brother to loan me funds to do a transfer of equity. I need to get a witness to oversee my signature and they need to sign to confirm they have witnessed it and give their address. The solicitor won't agree to witness of my signature because the loan is a private agreement with me and him but I'm struggling to get anyone to witness my signature because I have no friends in my vicinity and only a neighbor I don't want to divulge my information too. Any ideas . I doubt bank or anyone in authority would do so like Doctor because they have to give their address.

It appears to say online a witness only has to be there to witness my signature and they don't have to read the document but no one would be prepared to sign something surely without reading it plus having to also give their address

Any ideas .

The advice you've read is correct. I think most normal people would understand that signing as a witness doesn't mean they're a party to the document, and wouldn't think it a big deal to tell somebody their address (which in the case of somebody signing in a work capacity can just be their place of work). I'm not sure why you're writing off the idea without even trying?

I asked my neighbor of 20 years and immediately wouldn't even consider it because the notion of signing an agreement means he's somewhat party to it even though I explained he was only a witness etc . It's harder to get someone to agree when naturally their  instincts say I'm not signing something I haven't read. My question is would the bank be willing to witness my signature without insisting on reading the agreement or doctor at the surgery . Someone in authority.

Yes, generally. Though they might want to charge a fee..... Try asking!
Not sure why your solicitor refused - seems strange. You're already a client it's no big deal for him.

Hesitation for the inexperienced with contracts is somehow understandable.

But signing as a signature witness is indeed a simple task and does not require disclosing or reading the rest of the agreement.

keep asking people who know you and tell them the highlevel background which should comfort them.

All they are doing is witnessing your signature.  You can just cover up the rest of the document with a piece of paper.  I've signed my neighbours will (no idea what it says) and various other documents.  It's no big deal.

All a witness is doing by signing is saying, yes that is Rosesgirl who is writing her name on this piece of paper. I believe the witness put their address on to distinguish from TripleH who lives in Solihull

Do you work? Just ask a colleague to witness it if so. I get asked regularly to witness docs and don't ask too many questions.
