Car insurance claim

Hi can anyone answer this question.

I hit a bollard in a car park and scratched the side of my car. Can I claim on my fully comprehensive insurance or would something like this not typically be covered?

It probably is covered but what amount of ££ excess do you have? Get a bodywork place to give you an estimate and see if it’s more cost effective to just pay what it takes yourself.

usual caveats that you’re required to declare any accidents or claims to your insurance company whenever there’s a payout or not, or they may cancel/void your policy. Check the key points on your insurance paperwork.

And you will lose some of your NCD so add that to your calculations too.

Yes, you'd be covered - that's really the key difference between TPF&T and Fully Comp.  But as above, whether it's actually worth claiming is a different matter, taking into account your excess plus increased premiums for the next couple of years.
The only other thing to bear in mind - is there a chance that the car park owner/council may pursue you for any damage to the bollard (e.g. captured on CCTV)?  If so you may well have to get insurance involved anyhow, as such things tend to be disproportionately expensive.

You are fully covered for any damage you caused. So to clear up the whole mess if you claim, tell the council as well if the bollard was damaged. Ask the insurance about this and see what they say.

another point, any accident even if you don't go via insurance, you have to tell them.
