Topping up - at what point does the rate change?
Options
Hello all,
I have a non-smart meter with Bulb, and in an effort to beat the price raise I had topped up the key as much as I could (£250), but as we already had £20 credit on the meter, the money did not go on the meter itself (rather, it is still on the key).
I was wondering whether the old price is set at the time of purchase (so the credit on the key would be at the old rate), or whether the credit would need to be put onto the meter in time to get the old rate? If that were the case, I would try and get a partial refund on the key in order to get the meter topped up.
Apologies if this is covered elsewhere - I have not managed to find information about this specifically. I do also realise that there is a chance this may not work (with the electric company clawback), but it feels like it's worth a go!
Thanks!
Alex

The key carries the price data, so once your meter runs down enough (less than £5) to accept the payment it will be used at the prices that are loaded onto the key. What no-one can't tell you is what prices the key has on it.
