I'm about 99% certain the 'maintenance' is them trying to deal with issues caused by excessive demand, rather than some pre-planned work. Don't stress if you can't submit a reading today but do so in the next couple of days. It really won't make a significant difference.

Same with Eon Next, can't log on the app or the website, just going round and round
  • Take photos of your readings and email them, at least you will generate evidence (paper trail)

I used to work for a large energy company for 10 years as a salesman.
Trust me this will be deliberate.
I don't think many know the true scale of how these companies work in their scam.

Company i worked for purchased Gas 5 years in advance, or at least that is what we were told to tell customers asking why when wholesale price went down their price didn't....
So why when the wholesale goes up do the prices go up if they are using old reserves?

Oh yeah..... because they think only of shareholders and profit.
I fail to see any significant gain to a company from doing this. A meter reading submitted tomorrow or the day after would then lead to a back-dated calculated value for the figure today. This will result in some being slightly higher and some being slightly lower but confidently predicting a worthwhile financial upside seems a stretch, let alone one worth the negative PR.

I respectfully think you're wrong to suggest that issues submitting meter reading are deliberate, as opposed to being an entirely predictable consequence of far more people than usual trying to submit readings at the same time.

BG is also "having tecnical difficulties" did manage to give the readings. Managed to download a statement which showed a different amount in credit on the computer to the one on the phone app. Strangely the difference was the same amount as the credit transferred from Peoples Energy.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
