You can take readings from the actual meters, rather than needing the wireless in home device. If you know your smart meter is sending daily or hourly data to your supplier anyway then note there is not need for you to be submitting a meter reading today.
  • You meter goes into sleep mode there should be a button on the meters, press them and the meter wakes up.
  • So do we need to submit a reading if a smart meter then? My elec is blank too.
  • I don’t know. 😂

Not if it sends daily or hourly readings. If it's set up to send monthly readings there may be.

You'll be able to see a reading on your meter by pressing an appropriate button.
  • Hello. I need a bit of help please from the experts on here. I have gone round to take a picture of my family home where my elderly parents live. British Gas being British Gas have no access online and the app is not working, and i've been trying to get through to them for 1.5 hrs and still on the queue music!

Long story short, my parents have got TWO electric meters it seems. Both are running and active. It has only ever been one house. They were with peoples energy and were forced onto BG once PE went bust.

Attached is a picture of the meter(s). Any clues? Which readings do I give BG???? Helpppp

Looks like they have an old legacy tariff with three registers.  The disk meter is reading 45261, Rate 1 is 63912 and Rate 2 is 81340.

If your meter is working in Smart mode and communicating with your supplier you don't need to take readings; if it's in dumb mode you should be doing that at least every month.

Your bill will have the letter E against the meter readings if it's dumb.
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
