I am surprised because I thought that chrome books run on lower end processors, with less RAM and local storage. If there’s no cost savings, what’s the point?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

They are generally cheaper though. The “higher end” Chromebooks may be as expensive as mainstream Windows laptops but they are much cheaper than the “higher end” Windows and, of course, Mac laptops. Also, as the previous poster says, if you buy one with higher end components then it will be more expensive. It might seem there’s no point but there are people that want Chromebooks with higher powered processors and more RAM, even though that’s generally overkill for a Chromebook.

Having had it for just under a week, apart from the size difference I am doing the same on it as I was on my laptop.
Still getting used to the google version of office, but for me it is fine.

If you can't get the hang of the Google apps you can use free browser based versions of Microsoft office apps at https://www.office.com
They don't have the full functionality of the full office apps but are similar to the Google ones

They can run on lower end processors but you will still see Core i5 and i7 Chromebooks.
